We just had the worst experience shopping for my bridesmaids' dresses. We arrived at 11 AM, the time we set up our appointment for, and the 3 or 4 people behind the counter seemed extremely unprepared. We were told to wait for someone to help us and while waiting, another lady appeared asking if she could help us. When we told her we were waiting for someone she responded with "Yeah, me." We explained what we were looking for, which was a short dress with lace in a champagne, beige, tan or brown color, so we could decide what color we liked best. We were basically left to fend for ourselves rather than having her present us with options. When she returned with some color swatches to help me decide on a color, she continued to show me options I wasn't interested in. When I did decide on a color, not only did she proceed to show me long dresses when I was clearly looking for short ones, she couldn't tell me which short dresses would be available in the color I wanted in order for us to try any on. At one point, I even asked to see a dress she was holding in natural light as it looked more gray than brown and instead of walking over to the window mirrors with me, she handed it to me and told me to go over there. We were there less than 20 minutes and decided to pass on anything, as we had 3 other appointments, however, when we explained that we didn't think we were going to find anything, the lady told us she didn't know where else we thought we were going to find something. At this point, I'm just thankful I didn't get my wedding dress there.
My consultant, Carol, was absolutely wonderful to work with but I was not overtly impressed with the rest of my experience. All of the bridal gowns are on the second floor and there is no elevator available so my mother who is handicapped had a difficult time making it up the steps. Like I said, Carol was the highlight of my experience there. I ended up going to Elaine's in Appleton and found my dream dress there.
Prior to attending my appointment to at Elaine's I had the worst experience imaginable with a different bridal shop. An experience so terrible that I didn't have any desire to try on more dresses, I also told the consultant at Elaine's that I had never tried on dresses before because I simply did not want to re live it. I am happy to say that the wonderful staff at Elaine's not only helped me forget about the first bad experience but helped me find the perfect dress as well. Maria was very patient with me and did not push me to buy any dress. I wanted to try on as many different styles of dresses that I could and she worked swiftly to make that happen. She was very in tune with what I was looking for, and was very honest in terms of what colors and fits were flattering. My mom, aunt and sister who were with me were also impressed with Elaine's staff.
I made my appointment for 9 guests, when I showed up two of the workers were appalled I had that many. In the computer they put me down for 3-5 guests. The lady looked at me and told me I'm about a size 8 or 10 and to go pick out dresses in that size. When trying them on the size 8s were too small and she told me I couldn't try any more of them on. Also, when putting on the dresses, she had me step into each one. Trying to fit my hips through the smaller bust area of the dress was probably the worst way to get it on. I could hear the dress snapping and popping. I feel bad for whoever buys those dresses outright. Horrible customer service.

Poor customer service, when I went to try on bridal dresses the girl was very rude to me and my mom. She didn't want us going and picking out dresses to try on and brought me ones I would never wear. The lady actually told my mom she couldn't bring me dresses to try on! Huge waste of time.
